Libresse-Krystvarkar

Krystvarkar is Libresse’s only lp, released in 1987 on Hardcore Horror Records (also home to Anti-Cimex and D.N.A.). The title translates to “contractions” and I guess that explains the bloody birth on the cover. This is raw crust, misanthropic, dehumanizing and disgusting. Negative music for negative people. Five years ago I would’ve said it’s too metal for me and at times I find the guitar wankery a bit much… maybe you like that? (But what do I know? My idea of a perfect guitar solo is found in MOB 47’s “Lies”) The lyric sheet is in Swedish except for two songs, “Another Life for Sale” deals with the pain and boredom of daily life while “The Year of Doom” has some of the worst lyrics I’ve ever read. I mean, really? A song about a holy cock? A bad joke maybe? Whatevs I don’t get it. The internet translator machine tells me the other songs are about the arms race, power of the church, war etc. I’m surprised that I don’t see Libresse’s name all over butt flaps and patch pants everywhere. If you like raw punk and metal this is worth tracking down.
